The MELANIA Bronze edition by Brad Downey is a detailed miniature of the original bronze sculpture installed by the US artist on a tree stump near Melania Trump's Slovenian hometown. Originally created by a Slovenian artist with a chainsaw from a tree trunk, the world's first sculpture of the American First Lady reflects both the anti-immigrant policies of the 45th U.S. President and the paradox of his own wife's immigrant background. The sculpture received worldwide media coverage. The first wooden version was set on fire by an unknown person on July 4, 2020, the American national holiday, and was subsequently replaced by Downey with a full-size bronze. The edition of eighty was produced in Slovenia.

Die MELANIA Bronze-Edition von Brad Downey ist eine detailgetreue Miniatur der original Bronze, die der US-amerikanische Künstler auf einem Baumstumpf in der Nähe von Melania Trumps slowenischer Heimatstadt installiert hat. Die ursprünglich von einem slowenischen Künstler mit der Motorsäge aus eben diesem Stamm geschaffene, welterste Skulptur der amerikanischen First Lady reflektiert sowohl die immigrationsfeindliche Politik des 45sten US-Präsidenten, als auch das Paradox des Migrationshintergrundes seiner eigenen Ehefrau. Die Skulptur fand ein weltweites Medienecho. Die erste Version aus Holz wurde am 4. Juli 2020, dem amerikanischen Nationalfeiertag, von einem Unbekannten in Brand gesteckt und daraufhin von Downey durch eine originalgroße Bronze ersetzt.
BRAD DOWNEY (*1980, Louisville, Kentucky) ist ein in Berlin lebender, in Kentucky geborener Künstler. Er studierte am Pratt Institute, New York und der Slade School of Art, London. Seine radikalen und inspirierenden Kunstwerke, die er weltweit, meist im öffentlichen Raum schafft, haben einen starken sozialkritischen und performativen Charakter.
