The spatial setting is an important aspect of Christiane Löhr's work, whether it is made with filigree natural materials in real space or with various lines on paper space. For the publication of her monograph, the artist has produced an etching using the process of brush etching on aquatint. This technique closely resembles her ink drawings and has the potential to use the drawn, organic form to compositionally encompass the paper space. Dynamic diagonal lines cover the paper, testing out a balance between the "touched" and “untouched” spaces. Christiane Löhr learned the chine collé printing technique from a printer in Tokyo. The Japanese paper is placed on the inked copper plate and is joined to the backing paper during the pressing process. The surface of the fine paper is of enormously high quality and absorbs every nuance of the etched copper plate.
